Povegliano peaches are a local variety grown in the Treviso plain, particularly in the sandy, well-watered soils of the municipality of Povegliano. These fruits are distinguished by their bright color, juicy flesh and sweet, fragrant flavor, making them ideal for fresh consumption but also for processing into preserves, juices and desserts. The once widespread cultivation has been rediscovered in recent decades thanks to the efforts of small producers who focus on quality rather than quantity. Harvesting is done manually between June and July, respecting seasonality and natural ripeness. Povegliano peaches are celebrated at local fairs and represent a virtuous example of proximity agriculture. Their return to the market is linked to consumers’ desire to rediscover authentic fruits, grown without forcing and rich in flavor.
