Vigna del Gal is a small reality among the hills of Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene Conegliano declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this unique and wonderful setting our story begins.
In 1986, after the death of his father Guido Balliana, Italo was bequeathed small hilly vineyard plots in a renowned Prosecco Superiore area.
In the early years, Italo conferred the harvested grapes to the town’s social wine cellar, it was only in 1992, that together with his wife Claudia, he decided to start making wine from their own grapes thus giving birth to the first bottles of prosecco “col fondo” also known as (Sur Lie) a wine made to referment in the bottle, it differs from the classic method because it is not disgorged i.e. there is no lees release after refermentation.
As the years pass and the children grow, new land is purchased in very inaccessible and well-sunlit areas that are difficult to work but certainly optimal for making excellent prosecco.
Today, Devid and Christian (the sons) contribute by carrying on the same philosophy as their parents, striving to protect an extraordinary territory and to make it thoroughly understood that Valdobbiadene DOCG Vigna del Gal is not just any product, but a fantastic experience.
