Tarzo’s “figo longhet” has been granted protected designation of origin status. A real delicacy. It is a product that is part of our history and traditions. From time immemorial in Tarzo, along slopes less suitable for planting, the cultivation of “Figo Moro,” called precisely “Longhet,” has been widespread. Shrubs, do not require special care and grow in the most inaccessible areas where it would be difficult to grow other fruit trees. The roots also go to make an otherwise fragile soil more solid. Peculiarities of the small fruits of these trees are their elongated shape, brownish-purple skin, and particularly tender and fragrant flesh that is sweeter and of better quality than other species. It is a “complete” fruit, rich in sugar, energetic, mineralized (contains iron, phosphorus and calcium) and vitamin (A, B1, B2, PP and C). The “longhet de Tarz” can be eaten either fresh or dried.
