The municipality of Cavaso del Tomba stretches out on the southern flank of the spur that from Mount Grappa pushes toward the Piave River, at an altitude ranging from 190 to 1139 meters, and consists of a series of localities: Obledo, Caniezza, Paveion, Pieve, Vettorazzi, Granigo and Virago. From an artistic point of view, the territory of Cavaso preserves above all beautiful churches: the Pieve, dedicated to the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which preserves valuable paintings inside; the charming 11th-century church of San Martino in Castelcies; the oratory of S. Giorgio (15th cent.) located on the Colle della Bastia; and the oratory dedicated to Santa Maria Maddalena in Obledo. Also in the Obledo colmello are two adjoining villas of great value: 17th-century Villa Premoli and 18th-century Palladian-style Villa Bianchi.
Numerous are the naturalistic beauties of the municipality that can be admired thanks to pleasant walks in the unspoiled nature, starting with Mount Tomba, from which the town derives its name. In addition, during the annual “Art and Nature” event, the localities of Castelcies, Bocca di Serra and Costalunga become an open-air museum or, better yet, a large artistic laboratory that hosts cultural initiatives, concerts, poetry readings. Son of this municipality is the artist Francesco Sartor (1865-1920), the sculptor of Pope Pius X.
